Down to Earth

Announcement

Tuesday 25 November 2008

I will most probably move to LJ (LiveJournal) and end my blogspot by end of this year. Well, the reasons why because firstly, in LJ I can publish my post either only friends view or publicly. In blogspot I can hardly do that. Secondly, I started to get bored with Blogspot's templates options. It's kinda difficult to change the design templates anytime where you have to save everything in another file. Thirdly, I found that Blogspot's archive is not very well organize and I have no idea how to make it look more organize and neat.

So, for my friends who been kept in touch with me via bloggy please by 1st Jan 2009 check out 'A Piece of Cake' blog which I have linked in bloggy, if you look at the side lists. I will try to put the chatter box in 'A Piece of Cake' so that you can comment freely but if I can't you can always comment at the link given in LJ. Bloggy will remain on the net publicly. Of course I won't delete this account because seems like it has kept lots of nostalgic stories of my life for a year.

For the next next posts I will try my best to finish the Spain-Portugal trip and trip to Kuantan.

OK, thats for now.

It starts from here

Wednesday 19 November 2008
Dear Bloggy,

I was trying my best to find time to write my first experience in starting my new career as a lecturer. First of all the students are on holidays and I will only starting to teach on 30th December. A lot of things to do in preparing my first lecture. I am not only need to prepare the presentations also need to open file and record my work and the students performances. I will teach final year diploma students from Hotel and Administration courses. I have my own office sharing with another lecturer who is my mentor too. So far, everything looks fine to me. I can adjust myself into the working hours but I still have not meet friends to socialise with. Yes, I do talk a lot with my collegues and they are very nice and helpful. Most of them are married and have their own families to take care and of course they do not have time to socialise with young and single girl like me after work. Sometimes I do feel a little bored and lonely. I do have housemates but again they do not have the same interests as me. I love swimming and do outdoor activities. I guess it just a beginning so I cannot expect something high like I used to have during my student days. Anyway, I hope that once I start teaching next month my life will be enlighted with much more social activities.

P/S: Oh, almost forgot. I will updates my last trip in Spain and Portugal, hopefully in the next post.

A New Lecturer

Wednesday 12 November 2008
Dear Bloggy,

I have received an email from Law Coordinator of UITM Dungun. She has assigned two courses for me to teach next year which covers like 8 kind of laws! Scary lah... as I do not have any basic of Malaysian Laws. However, she promised that there will be senior lecturers to guide and help me. Fuh!

Wish me luck!

Conference

Sunday 9 November 2008
Dear Bloggy,

Attending conference is not something new to those who are called academics. And thats what I am trying to do right now. Attending more and more conferences especially which got to do with my area of expertise. Last Thursday, I attended my first conference in Malaysia. It was a half-day conference organized by UIAM on Competition Law & Policy. I was glad that one of the UIAM lecturers invited me and glad to see there is a group of academics who have the same area of interest as me. The presentations were conducted my local and overseas academics which meant to introduce and promoting Competition Law in Malaysia. Now I can see clearer where Malaysia stands in implenting its own Competition Law & Policy where now they (the Ministry) have started to draft the FTA (Fair Trade Act) since 1990s. However, I still think that Malaysia is in an infant stage where there are more to learn from other countries who have more experience in Competition Law. Anyway, the conference has gave me some ideas what I'm going to write in the future. It's really worth it.
